Are businesses wasting money to save time?

When you ask businesses why they don’t switch their energy supplier, they’ll often tell you it’s because they just don’t have the time to do it. But by not spending a bit of time on their energy contract, they could end up wasting a lot of money.
The current average electricity bill of £2600.79 accounts for 0.39%* of the average turnover for a business, and while this may not seem like a huge portion initially, many businesses are still wasting a huge amount of money on their energy bills each year.
If we take into account the fact that for an average customer, the least competitive energy rates on the market are around four times more expensive than the cheapest ones available, businesses often end up paying much more than they need to simply because they do not spend enough time researching tariffs to know if they are getting a good rate or not.
So, what a business needs to consider is this - while the average saving for a business that switches is £868, by switching from the highest electricity unit rate to the lowest, a business using 25,000 kWh a year would save a very significant £6,665.
Comparing business energy prices to check you’re getting a good deal (and switching if you aren’t) doesn’t have to be time-consuming - a quick phone call to an independent business energy broker will get you quotes from across the market in just a few minutes.
*Based on ONS statistics: total turnover 20122 = £3,052,558,000,000.00, total number of businesses = 4542765.
