Working at Business Juice
Hear what it’s like to work here from some of our own!
Nicola’s Story
1. What were you doing before you worked at Business Juice?
I worked in an independent coffee shop in Lincoln for three years which was a focal point of the town. I started there as an assistant selling coffee beans then went on to waitress and later to work in the office doing web design and social media.
Despite juggling different roles and gaining invaluable experience, I was working endless hours and wanted to look for a new challenge with better rewards.
One thing I was sure of, was that my passion lay in talking to customers and meeting new people so I left my coffee days behind me.
2. Tell me a little bit about how you first decided to take a job at Business Juice
I registered with a recruitment agency, simply requesting a permanent job with career progression and they flagged a telesales job at Business Juice.
I refused immediately as I had a perception of what a call centre was like and had an idea that I’d be cold calling customers and annoying them with unwanted phone calls. However, it was explained that this wasn’t the case.
I decided to go for an interview and a few days later, I was offered the job! I accepted because everything the recruitment agency had told me regarding the friendliness of the people and management really seemed to be true.
The interview was an experience in itself – I’d never been through speed recruitment before – think speed dating with less romance and more acumen!
3. What were your first impressions of Business Juice?
Throughout my first week my new boss, James, was completely up-front with targets, sales figures and he even supplied cupcakes! He was open and honest from the start and always kept staff in the loop with regard to company performance. The staff were all really chatty and the atmosphere was fun.
Learning all of the terminology was difficult to start with but I picked it up quickly and was surprised how easy processes were to remember. A year and a half later, and I’m a bit of an expert!
[*Correction* Nic is being a little modest – she’s actually one of our Senior Corporate Negotiators having managed hundreds of procurement tenders in her time here]
4. After a year and a half at Business Juice, what do you like most about your job here?
I love the people, we’re like a family. We spend time outside of work, go to the gym together, go out for drinks together and we welcome new starters with open arms!
You also really reap the rewards if you work hard.
5. If you could give a potential recruit, three good reasons why they should work here, what would they be?
The people are great – it’s like working with your mates!
You get paid well if you work hard.
Management are real and approachable. You can pitch ideas to them and they value your opinion.
6. And just for a giggle, why should our new recruits want to work with you?
Why wouldn’t they want to work with me?!
