Energy complaints to the Ombudsman Services have more than doubled since last year.
It said the rise in complaints
“follows a turbulent year for the energy industry, with mounting consumer dissatisfaction, market investigations and Ofgem imposed sanctions.”
Not good news for the supplier’s reputations but worse still, it’s hitting their pockets with average compensation sitting at around £100 per complaint.
Is this really down to growing dissatisfaction and poor service or are consumers just becoming more aware of their rights combined with the ease of complaining improved via social media and email?
Billing was most commonly complained about which comes as no surprise after the issues some of the bigger suppliers had experienced with new systems being put into place.
Let’s hope the big six can take this in their stride and retain their customers although we predict more customers will start jumping ship as smaller energy suppliers become ever more popular.
